Ethno India 2020
Ethno India is an international music workshop for folk, world and traditional music, aimed at young musicians (ages 16-30 yrs). Founded in 1990 in Falun, Sweden, Ethno’s mission is to revive, invigorate and disseminate our global traditional musical heritage. Today Ethno is present in over 20 countries, running a series of annual/bi-annual international music camps, workshops and concerts that promote peace, tolerance and understanding. It is a programme of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI. http://www.jmi.net), the world’s largest youth music NGO, with its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. JMI reaches over 6 million youth from 80 countries through more than 40,000 activities per year.
At the core of ETHNO is a democratic peer-to-peer learning approach whereby young people teach each other music from their traditions. It is a non-formal pedagogy that has been refined over the past 30 years, embracing the principles of intercultural dialogue and understanding
Ethno India was started in 2014 by renowned musician Suchet Malhhotra and has had three successful editions. The fourth edition is being organised by the us and will be held from the 6th to the 16th of March 2020.
